Trust Your Gut

As a parent, it is important to trust your instincts and not accept the many excuses you will hear from friends, teachers, and even family members.

If your child has three or more of the preschool warning signs and starts struggling with reading, spelling, writing, or math in kindergarten or first grade, there’s a good chance that they have dyslexia.

Since dyslexia runs in families, the most important preschool warning sign is other family members—like parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins—who also had difficulty in school with reading, spelling, and writing.

If it is dyslexia, waiting is the worst thing you can do. Take action early. The longer you wait, the more behind your child will fall.

If you are not sure what action to take, click here to watch my video called 9 Things Parents Should Do.

Baseball Legend

Renowned baseball pitcher and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan is a legend in the sports world, celebrated as the all-time strikeout leader with a remarkable 5,714 strikeouts and an unmatched record of seven no-hitters.

Over his career, he accumulated or shared 48 Major League, American League, and National League records—a testament to his dominance on the mound.

But behind these achievements lies a lesser-known challenge: dyslexia. Like many with dyslexia, Ryan found spelling particularly difficult and often struggled in school, earning mostly C’s and D’s, and occasionally even F’s.

Ryan’s wife, Ruth, recalls that in high school, “one teacher thought he was stupid and wanted to fail him.” Even with these setbacks, Ryan’s resilience on and off the field paved the way to greatness.

Ryan’s academic struggles were a mystery when he was in school, leading to frustration and embarrassment — feelings he couldn’t fully understand until much later in life when he was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia.

Ryan found solace playing baseball. His phenomenal athletic skills eventually caught the eye of a Major League Baseball scout, and after graduating high school, he signed with the New York Mets.

Ryan completed 27 seasons as Major League Baseball pitcher before retiring in 1993, the longest career of any major league baseball player.

I would like share how very impressed I am with the Barton System.

As a Special Education teacher with more than three decades of teaching experience, I have used many different reading programs over the years.

But I have never before encountered anything that is as comprehensive as your system. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into developing a true quality product.

The difference it is making for my dyslexic students is really impressive. Their reading and spelling skills, plus general self-esteem, grow visibly with each tutoring session.

I love using your program!
